The House That Ash Built / The House That Ash Built Facebook

The House That Ash Built returns July 26, 2025, for its fifth year, transforming the garden of Millers Pond Pub in Sholing into a pulsating hub of house music. This vibrant festival honors Ashleen Bateman, a passionate local house music enthusiast who passed away in 2021 at age 34 under the care of Mountbatten Hampshire. Before her passing, Ashleen fulfilled her dream of DJing at the inaugural event, a legacy now carried forward by her husband, Dan Bateman, and close friend Gareth ‘Chunk’ Nichols. The festival has become a cornerstone for the community, raising an impressive £28,000 over four years for the hospice, with last year’s event alone pulling in nearly £6,000 and drawing 400 attendees.

This year’s lineup delivers a dynamic range of house music vibes, featuring returning heavyweights Olly Camplin, Jamie Ryves, and DJ RK, whose sets promise to keep the dancefloor moving with deep basslines and infectious rhythms. Newcomers Jodie Topp and saxophonist Charlotte Hayes inject fresh energy, blending soulful melodies with high-octane beats. The event’s atmosphere is amplified by glitter face painting and flashing sunflowers, creating a festive, immersive experience that celebrates Ashleen’s love for the genre while supporting a vital cause.

“Help us make 2025’s the best one yet,” urges Dan Bateman, as the festival continues to grow in scope and impact. Running from 2 PM to 11:30 PM, The House That Ash Built 2025 channels all proceeds to Mountbatten Hampshire, a hospice reliant on community efforts like this to fund its £10.5 million annual budget for 24/7 end-of-life care.

KEINEMUSIK’S REZNIK REUNITES WITH MIKESH ON ‘ONE AND ONLY’ https://house-music.co/2025/04/10/keinemusiks-reznik-reunites-with-mikesh-on-one-and-only/ Thu, 10 Apr 2025 09:31:19 +0000 https://house-music.co/?p=2173

Having combined on multiple releases since 2020, ‘One And Only‘ opens up yet another chapter in Reznik & Mikesh’s collaborative efforts on Keinemusik. And what a nicely written chapter it is. The boys are laying down what might be their most heartfelt material to date, with an original version that is drafted in rather classical song structure – a yearning piece graced with string and piano arrangements, and most notably: Mikesh’s vocals. The club mix on the other hand picks on the original’s vibes and translates them into a more functional, but still deeply fervent peaktime weapon. Both tunes have been road tested by the Keinemusik crew over the last months and generated some serious collective emotional release and ID requests alike. Reznik had this to say on it:

“‘One and Only (Original)‘ is a very emotive piece that we realised would rather go into song than track-territory, but we figured there’s quite a few elements in it that would work well in a more club oriented production, so we started to shape it into a club edit. We failed miserably to incorporate Mikesh’s vocals, which is a real bummer, as they are so beautiful. And generally speaking we derailed a bit on this, so there’s actually not too many similarities between both cuts anymore. But we haven’t given up yet on doing a club version containing the original’s vocals. So maybe that’s the dub for now. We had a bit of a Lil’ Louis French Kiss moment when recording the bass line for the club mix.”

It was in 2009, a couple of years after relocating to Berlin, when Reznik teamed up with Adam Port, &ME, Rampa and former members David Mayer and Monja Gentschow and the whole Keinemusik story unfolded. Having released music with Mikesh via Keinemusik, Permanent Vacation, Razor-N-Tape or 2MR, he’s also been on remix duty for the likes of Moby, Tiga & Hudson Mohawke, Beacon or Whitesquare his DJ sets draw on groove and emotions, balancing captivating flow with an element of surprise. CRISTOPH ALLUDES TO DEBUT ALBUM WITH RHYTHMIC HOUSE NUMBER ‘STRING THING’ https://house-music.co/2025/03/18/cristoph-alludes-to-debut-album-with-rhythmic-house-number-string-thing/ Tue, 18 Mar 2025 10:38:58 +0000 https://house-music.co/?p=2166 Finessed and finely tuned in production, yet rich in rhythm and soul, DJ and producer Cristoph ignites an exchange of house music sensibilities on the dancefloor on new single ‘String Thing.’

A leading figure in melodic house, Cristoph drops his first release of 2025 on his Consequence of Society Recordings and alludes to a conceptual album project focused on the musical journey and experience of his open-to-close sets, due to follow later this year.

Cruising in on a seductive groove, ‘String Thing’ is headed straight for the club room. Cristoph’s early infatuation with Chicago house plays a distinctive role through rhythmic beats, enlisting an impressionable vocal loop and vivacious, track-defining strings that speak direct to the mind and body.

Alternating from Cristoph’s signature ethereal tones which have earned accolades such as Beatport’s Top Selling Progressive House Artist, ‘String Thing’ is a clear indication of the unbounded mindset the platinum-awarded producer is embracing as he ventures into this next chapter.

Native to the North of England, Cristoph has masterfully built a career worthy of worldwide appeal. Cristoph’s desire to evoke emotion transcends onto the loyal crowds who come to him behind the decks. of a dim-lit underground DJ booth, up to global gatherings of an elite scale such as Tomorrowland, Arc Festival and ULTRA Music Festival.

In the studio, he awards his time to honing a meticulous production style, apparent on renowned catalogue releases ‘FEEL’, ‘EPOCH’ and ‘Breathe’ output of the last twelve months highlights of which include ‘Where’s The Music Gone’ with Pete Tong.

Ever one to pilot his own narrative, Cristoph’s life-long ambition to launch his own imprint culminated in Consequence of Society Recordings which serves to do exactly that. Not only a blank canvas for Cristoph to explore his inner curiosities, resulting in diverse sonics like ‘String Thing’ and the looming album, but COS also serves as a meeting-point for wider talent fluent in the breadths of house and techno.

German DJ, label owner, and artist manager Oliver Schories is set to release his latest remix of the soulful San Franciscan trio KARMACODA’s track ‘Deja Vu’, slated for release on February 28th via Sola Musa Music. With a career spanning over a decade, Schories has amassed 140 million Spotify streams and gained widespread recognition from Mixmag, Magnetic Magazine, Decoded Magazine, Deep House Amsterdam, FAZE Mag and many more. His catalog featuring albums like Exit (2013) and Blitzbahn (2018), showcases his signature melodic house sound and his influence as both an artist and label curator through SOSO and Pracht

The original version of ‘Deja Vu’ comes from KARMACODA’s critically acclaimed 2022 album, Lessons In Time. Composed of Jessica Ford (vocals), Brett Crockett (vocals/producer), and Eric Matsuno (bass/multi-instrumentalist), the trio blends electronica, trip-hop, R&B, and dream pop, drawing comparisons to Adele, Lana Del Rey, and Massive Attack. Oliver Schories’ remix of ‘Deja Vu’ transforms the track into a melodic house journey, seamlessly blending hypnotic rhythms, ethereal synths and pulsating basslines while preserving the haunting allure of Jessica Ford’s vocals. Eli & Fur drop ethereal new single ‘Missing You’ https://house-music.co/2024/07/18/eli-fur-drop-ethereal-new-single-missing-you/ Thu, 18 Jul 2024 12:00:40 +0000 https://house-music.co/?p=2066

Multi-hyphenate producer / DJ / singer-songwriter duo Eli & Fur release ‘Missing You’, out now from their upcoming Dreamscapes album, out September 27th on [PIAS] Électronique. Channeling an essence of empathy, ‘Missing You’ fuses heartfelt lyricism with an atmospheric soundscape that is both true to the duo’s dance-pop influence and uniquely evolved from previous musical releases. Deceptively simple yet sophisticated in craft and construction, Eli & Fur balance rippling melodic piano arps, slippery breaksy drums, and an echoing softly sung vocal to create a laid-back feel that is so blissfully all-in, even the lover’s absence is a joy to savour.

Eli & Fur share: “We are so excited to share ‘Missing You’ with the world. This song is about the feeling of missing someone and the euphoria that comes with that feeling, to be lost in a love that’s all consuming. The world is spinning so fast and you are just stopped, floating in a dream wishing you were with this person. It’s less of a yearning and more of the beauty and celebration of having someone to miss. We hope you enjoy it.”

Previous LP singles ‘Insomnia’, ‘Golden Eyes and Tears’, and ‘My Reflection’ (which bejeweled their Cercle Festival Paris secret sets) have already garnered praise from tastemakers including Numéro, Billboard, Mixmag, BBC 6 Music, SiriusXM, DJ Mag, KCRW and Kiss FM.

Dreamscapes LP concept:

Each of the 15 songs tells its own story about the introspective, yet transformative spaces that come alive between the hours of dusk and dawn. Poised to transcend the traditional listening experience, this latest body of work further affirms Eli & Fur’s unparalleled ability to harmonise diverse musical elements with universally connective themes, demonstrating their songwriting prowess (they began as lyricists for artists inc. Pet Shop Boys, Girls Aloud, The Saturdays), artistic range and technical expertise.

About Eli & Fur:

The London-born, LA-based longtime friends continue to reimagine the electronic music landscape through a lens that is uniquely their own with releases on Crosstown Rebels, Anjunadeep, Cercle, Armada Deep, plus their own NYX Music. Their sonic aesthetic marries a mysterious and enigmatic mood with evocative vocals, cascading synths and rolling basslines, whether it’s tales from the club and after-hours parties, love, life, laughter and rebellion. Their sophisticated productions capture the imaginations and hearts of followers all over the globe, gracing stages like Coachella, Printworks and Tomorrowland. Their multiple talents include remixes (Sasha, Bob Moses, ODESZA, Shouse), collaborations (Camelphat, MEDUZA, Booka Shade), and gracing the fashion world in the form of Stella McCartney, YSL and The Kooples collaborations and performing at Dior shows.

Dreamscapes Live:

Fans yearn to see Eli & Fur play live, after their live film performances, ‘Found In The Wild: Live’ and their seminal Cercle set from Skyway, Monte Bianco, last year. Their 2024 new headline shows at Village Underground (London), The Fonda (LA) and Brooklyn Steel (NYC) mark the first Eli & Fur live performances beyond the screen.
