The House That Ash Built returns July 26, 2025, for its fifth year, transforming the garden of Millers Pond Pub in Sholing into a pulsating hub of house music. This vibrant festival honors Ashleen Bateman, a passionate local house music enthusiast who passed away in 2021 at age 34 under the care of Mountbatten Hampshire. Before her passing, Ashleen fulfilled her dream of DJing at the inaugural event, a legacy now carried forward by her husband, Dan Bateman, and close friend Gareth ‘Chunk’ Nichols. The festival has become a cornerstone for the community, raising an impressive £28,000 over four years for the hospice, with last year’s event alone pulling in nearly £6,000 and drawing 400 attendees.

This year’s lineup delivers a dynamic range of house music vibes, featuring returning heavyweights Olly Camplin, Jamie Ryves, and DJ RK, whose sets promise to keep the dancefloor moving with deep basslines and infectious rhythms. Newcomers Jodie Topp and saxophonist Charlotte Hayes inject fresh energy, blending soulful melodies with high-octane beats. The event’s atmosphere is amplified by glitter face painting and flashing sunflowers, creating a festive, immersive experience that celebrates Ashleen’s love for the genre while supporting a vital cause.

“Help us make 2025’s the best one yet,” urges Dan Bateman, as the festival continues to grow in scope and impact. Running from 2 PM to 11:30 PM, The House That Ash Built 2025 channels all proceeds to Mountbatten Hampshire, a hospice reliant on community efforts like this to fund its £10.5 million annual budget for 24/7 end-of-life care.

Having combined on multiple releases since 2020, ‘One And Only‘ opens up yet another chapter in Reznik & Mikesh’s collaborative efforts on Keinemusik. And what a nicely written chapter it is. The boys are laying down what might be their most heartfelt material to date, with an original version that is drafted in rather classical song structure – a yearning piece graced with string and piano arrangements, and most notably: Mikesh’s vocals. The club mix on the other hand picks on the original’s vibes and translates them into a more functional, but still deeply fervent peaktime weapon. Both tunes have been road tested by the Keinemusik crew over the last months and generated some serious collective emotional release and ID requests alike. Reznik had this to say on it:

“‘One and Only (Original)‘ is a very emotive piece that we realised would rather go into song than track-territory, but we figured there’s quite a few elements in it that would work well in a more club oriented production, so we started to shape it into a club edit. We failed miserably to incorporate Mikesh’s vocals, which is a real bummer, as they are so beautiful. And generally speaking we derailed a bit on this, so there’s actually not too many similarities between both cuts anymore. But we haven’t given up yet on doing a club version containing the original’s vocals. So maybe that’s the dub for now. We had a bit of a Lil’ Louis French Kiss moment when recording the bass line for the club mix.”

It was in 2009, a couple of years after relocating to Berlin, when Reznik teamed up with Adam Port, &ME, Rampa and former members David Mayer and Monja Gentschow and the whole Keinemusik story unfolded. Having released music with Mikesh via Keinemusik, Permanent Vacation, Razor-N-Tape or 2MR, he’s also been on remix duty for the likes of Moby, Tiga & Hudson Mohawke, Beacon or Whitesquare his DJ sets draw on groove and emotions, balancing captivating flow with an element of surprise. German DJ, label owner, and artist manager Oliver Schories is set to release his latest remix of the soulful San Franciscan trio KARMACODA’s track ‘Deja Vu’, slated for release on February 28th via Sola Musa Music. With a career spanning over a decade, Schories has amassed 140 million Spotify streams and gained widespread recognition from Mixmag, Magnetic Magazine, Decoded Magazine, Deep House Amsterdam, FAZE Mag and many more. French producer Boston Bun has returned with some of his best work to date with his album MIXED FEELINGS released on 25 October via the Future Classic imprint. 

MIXED FEELINGS is Boston Bun’s second album, and features 11 masterfully crafted house infused tracks. 2024 has been a year of profound polarity for Boston Bun as he’s experienced insurmountable joy due to the birth of his child, but he’s also experienced emotional turbulence due to family tragedies. So, for Boston Bun, the album is a culmination of gratitude and celebration as well as grief and turmoil. 

Speaking on the album, Boston Bun divulges; “(It’s) a reflection on the ephemerality of our societies. Art, objects, human skills, or relationships – everything is more ephemeral than ever. It makes us feel replaceable. I started to think of all of my productions as emotional postcards that I sent to the future. I imagined a random kid somewhere in the world finding out about these tracks in 100 years, listening to a weird pirate radio. From then, inspiration was unlimited.

The paradox of the album also extends to the state of the world in 2024, with wars raging, governments, systems and regimes crumbling and natural disasters taking place now more than ever.
