Released today, the single contains infectious grooves and recurring hooks that are elegantly crafted. While the producer originally grew up in England, quite literally performing for the queen and attending every type of live music performance his parents thought of, he is currently based in Lafayette, Colorado.

The producer has spoken freely about the experience of moving to a new country and the positive impact it’s had on both his career and mindset. Take ‘Return’ for instance with its vibrant, light and gentle unassuming melodies that are happy to make themselves at home in your collection.

The music producer tells us about ‘Return’ “This track is a return to the classic sound that people have come to know me for. Deep, melodic, progressive house with a touch of vocal layering, this one is for the day 1 fans who have shown so much support over the years! I couldn’t be where I am today without you. It also represents my return as an artist and the beginning of a new era of music.”

The SOFI TUKKER remix once again proves that the Bloom Twins have the adaptable vocals for the ever-changing electronic music landscape. We wait in anticipation to see what this versatile duo have in the works moving forward, but until then we chatted with the sisters Bloom Twins and discovered that they are comfortable in their skin.

Stream/ download: ‘High On Beat’ (SOFI TUKKER remix)

Tell us about your earliest musical memory?

Before we could speak, we started to sing. We would copy every sound we could hear. Our parents felt a strong need to put us in the music school because it was the first language we picked up.

At what point in your life did you have that moment where you said to yourself “This is it. This is the type of music I want to create?”

I’m not sure which genre I want to create,  I just know which emotion I want to deliver. Looking at the blank canvas I don’t really know where it’s gonna take me, I just fill it in step by step. The songwriting process is a mystery – the beauty of the unknown.

Please list some of the most influential albums on your creative outlook and output:

The Velvet Underground & Nico.

This year has seen you collaborate on several dance singles with globally renowned music producers. What are the highlights of these experiences so far?

It’s crazy to think that it all came to life with the help of Instagram. In a new digital era, you’re only one DM away from connecting with literally anyone. We messaged Benny Benassi, Jan Blomqvist, Sofi Tukker and they all responded that they like our music. It feels so great to have such feedback from such iconic electronic artists!

What inspires you outside of music? What do you turn to when the creative well runs a little low?

We love fashion and how it comes together with music. Seem like one can’t exist without the other. Like my twin and I.

Studio work and music creation or performing and interacting with a live audience, what do you prefer?

Studio work and performing are just such different sides to music. One could turn you into an introvert and another into an extrovert. It makes it hard to compare the two. I must admit coming out of the lockdown makes me excited about performing but equally terrified.

As a music artist, it becomes apparent that there is a huge difference between the art and the business. Is there anything about the music scene that you would personally change?

We should support the differences rather than fitting into the existing genres. We were also asked to fix our accents as otherwise wouldn’t be favored and played on the radio stations. We don’t think it is necessary, we should all be proud of our upbringing and where we are from.

Any new or upcoming artists on your radar? Who shouldn’t the world sleep on?

Absolutely in love with Jelani Blackman’s work! He recently released a track with the Gorillaz and it’s doing really well!

Can you describe the feeling of having the original track reworked by SOFI TUKKER?

We are thrilled! We absolutely love the new direction SOFI TUKKER chose for this track. We believe all good songs can be redone in many different ways and it’s amazing when the same song can evoke different feelings.

What can we expect from you in the near future? Any upcoming projects or gigs in the pipeline that you would like to tell us about?

At the moment we’re concentrating on writing as many tracks as possible. We have tons of features that we worked on during the lockdown, cannot wait to share them with you all.

One last thought to leave your fans with?

Don’t ever give up even when no one believes in you. Write as many tracks as possible, experiment with different genres. This way you will come up with something new! Impress yourself and you will impress others. Do it because you love doing it and not because of other reasons.

Progressive house duo Messive Muzik unveil stellar EP remix https://house-music.co/2021/04/14/progressive-house-duo-messive-muzik-unveil-stellar-ep-remix/ https://house-music.co/2021/04/14/progressive-house-duo-messive-muzik-unveil-stellar-ep-remix/#comments Wed, 14 Apr 2021 13:38:55 +0000 http://housemusic.ground.fm/?p=1327 Photo credit: @GingerWithaGoPro

Our 38th release is upon us and we’re excited to bring you a stellar remix EP of Messive Muzik’s masterful collaborative effort, ‘Uthabili’. On the original EP, South African native’s and rising Deep House producers based out of Gugulethu in Cape Town, Messive Muzik, teamed up with Johannesburg-based leading producer KVRVBO and Cape Town’s finest, Pierre Johnson, who are no strangers to the Ambious Records roster and infamous Swaziland-based collective, Secret Souls, to put together a Deep and groovy blend of a combination of their styles and express the passion and talent each of these artists has to offer.

Bringing things forward, we recruited Berlin & Cape Town-based newcomers to the roster, Amata, which consists of Ambious Records co-founders, MKLY & Sides, who have already made a massive impact on the Progressive House scene with releases coming out on Beat Boutique Records, Sudbeat, Mango Alley to flip, ‘Labyrinth’, with an upbeat and driven Progressive House take on the original that will be a leading track in sets to come.

Berlin-based Redlight Music founder, Denite, who has releases on Germanies Get Physical Music & Audiojack’s Gruuv switches up Messive’s collaboration with Pierre Johnson, ‘Uthabili’, with an old school flair that he’s become known for. With highly swung drums and a lo-fi edge, a true modern classic in the making.

Last but not least lo-tempo maestro and Box of Cats artist, DR. 1MORE, takes the reigns on Messive Muzik’s collaboration with Swaziland collective, Secret Souls, ‘Hacked’. Staying true to the originals downtempo energy with a dubbed out and groove-based rendition, DR. 1MORE’s penchant for head-bobbing music shows itself clearly in this remix and ties the EP up well, reminiscent of the variety that House Music has to offer.

In conversation with progressive house music producer Anton Borin https://house-music.co/2021/03/31/in-conversation-with-progressive-house-music-producer-anton-borin/ Wed, 31 Mar 2021 14:29:43 +0000 http://housemusic.ground.fm/?p=1387 Image credit: TBC

Working as a resident DJ for the likes of BCSA, BC2 Records, Bevel, Clubsonica Records, Droid9 to name a few, Russian producer Anton Borin has experimented and found a loyal fan base through the years. Dabbling with anything from acid house, and fads of the electronic music scene, the producer would find solace in progressive house music. His latest collaborative work with DJ Bondarev ( Multiverse EP) via Ambious Records is a progressive house piece with finesse to note.

We chatted with producer – Anton Borin below.

How would you describe yourself and your sound as an artist?

It’s underground. At the moment, I’m trying to write music for primetime on the dance floor. The key to such a track is a good groove and a lot of effects.

Tell us about the first time you wrote a song.

The first experiments were in 96-98. There was such a Rebirth program. It had three TB synthesizers-303, 808, 909. I tried recording the acid house on tape. Then there was a big break. During this period I came to progressive house And really I started writing music in 2017. But the music was always there for me.

What five albums would you say influenced your sound the most? And which artists would you say you look up to as people?

1. Deep Purple – Machine Head,  2.Nirvana – Nevermind,  3.Prodigy – Music for the Jilted Generation, 4.Astral Projection – Dancing Galaxy,  5.Guy J – The Trees, The Sea & The Sun

Tell us about your writing process. Is there anything you need with you when writing music?

At the moment, I use a lot of analog equipment in my production. The main and favorite synthesizer right now is the Dave Smith OB-6. I also use Access Virus Ti and the Eventide H9 effects pedal. In the ‘Multiverse’ track for Ambious Records recorded together with Bondarev, we also used the Roland 808, 909 drum machines, and the Ensoniq DP4 effector.

Can you think of anything unexpected that has inspired your music at some point?

I look for inspiration in the emotions that surround me. And the beginning of my musical journey in 2017 was the birth of my son!

What is one sub-genre you think doesn’t get the attention it deserves? Is there any genre that lost popularity that you wish would make a new wave?

There is music that has passed the peak of popularity. For example, such genres as breaks and dubstep. The genre that I think is undervalued is progressive. In Russia, it is gaining popularity again. This is my style and I am very happy about it.

Who are you listening to right now? Any up and comers?

I pay attention to Nopi, Volen Sentir, Guy J, Alex O’Rion, and Simos Tagias who are on fire right now.

Tell us about your live shows. What does or would make you different as a performer?

On my sets, I try to tell a story that will be remembered. My set is a mix of styles. I try not to get attached to one thing, but the mainline is underground progressive. I’m thinking about trying out live performances. This might be interesting.

What single night out has been the most memorable for you? Witness any shows that stand out for you?

As for my performances, I don’t want to single out any of them. I always get a lot of positive emotions. Each one leaves its mark on my heart. Where I was on the dance floor, I remember the arrival of Danny Tenaglia in Moscow at the end of 2000. It was very cool.

Who would play you in a film about your life?

Hehe, can be Johnny Depp?

What can we look forward to from you? Any new releases coming? Shows? Projects?

Yes, this year will be full of releases. First of all, we are waiting for a collection of remixes for our track with Bondarev on Ambious Records. This is going to be a really cool EP. Then there will be my single release with two remixes from the stars of the progressive scene on Ekabeat records. Next up is the long-awaited EP on Monog Records. We will close the first half of the year with a collaboration with my brother-in-arms Bondarev, a release on the new label of the very famous Warpp club in Russia. And it will be a bomb! We also continue to work with Bondarev on a lot of new material. Follow the news.

Famous last words?

Stay safe, we will survive these difficult times and be sure to dance together again.

Progressive house DJ, Antduan provides preview of upcoming single https://house-music.co/2021/02/16/progressive-house-dj-antduan-provides-preview-of-upcoming-single/ Tue, 16 Feb 2021 14:34:15 +0000 http://housemusic.ground.fm/?p=1374 Antduan, a progressive house Dj, will be treating fans with his latest single, ‘Rain Drops ft. Alexandra Badoi’ on the 12th of March via the BEAT2SOUL imprint. The producer has already released an instrumental version of the single (listen here), which immediately captured listeners attention. Building on this, he decided to incorporate the sultry vocals of Alexandra Badoi. While we can’t share the single just yet, we can give you a preview, in the video below.

Pre-save ‘Rain Drops ft. Alexandra Badoi’

A fan of the early trance scene in the 2000’s, Antduan has found a way to infuse his music with the unforgettable sound. Delve into the wonderland of tents sprawled across a massive field, the flashing lights swirling overhead and disappearing into the dark night’s sky. The thrumming beat is calling you, deep within your soul and you head towards the omnipotent dancefloor that is both terrifying and exhilarating.

A year of exciting releases for the producer, Antduan has also shared a two-track EP called Another Day, with its title track and another song called Horizon.  Between the three, we’re struggling to pick a favourite. Does a particular song stand out to you? Let us know in the comment section below.

Well-known remixer and producer LCAW has taken Ilja Alexander’s pop-laden ‘Someday’ single for a spin. The remix, released today via  Green Monk Records calls to mind industry greats such as Ben Böhmer, Rüfüs Du Sol and Jan Blomqvist.

Stream/ download: Someday (LCAW Remix)

“Working on this remix for Someday was a lot of fun because I used only analog synths that I recently acquired. Very happy I got a chance to put my spin on this song, hope someday soon I get to play it in a club and see people dance to it.”LCAW tells us about his experience of working on the remix.

The original single’s noteworthy vocals have been kept intact, while a darker atmosphere is introduced. Think of a lover, corrupting their gentle significant other, while enticing them into a world of rhythmic dance floors and underground nightclubs.
