Florian Picasso brings club fiends a good time with his new dance demon entitled ‘The Edge’. The La Californie Musique producer has flipped a catchy vocal sample and laid it on a bed of buttery bass. It helps that there is a rump-thumping kick to enforce the rules: either move your feet or leave. That simple.

Stream / Download: Florian Picasso – ‘The Edge’

It is the second track he has released in the past month, being the follow-up to ‘Make Me Dance’, but it’s different. “When it comes to releases on my own label, I see it as a cycle: my two previous releases were more house and sexy,” he said. “Now it’s time for the dark and filthy cycle with this release.”

We can attest to the filthiness of the record. Florian did not hold back with this one. It feels sweaty like a drenched-t-shirt or a festival-goer in the middle of a swarming crowd. So grab a towel, and hit that play button!

DJ Bellaire shares new catchy tune ‘Daytime’ https://house-music.co/2020/08/28/dj-bellaire-shares-new-catchy-tune-daytime/ Fri, 28 Aug 2020 08:01:32 +0000 http://housemusic.ground.fm/?p=1267 French DJ and producer Bellaire has unveiled his latest single ‘Daytime’.

21 year-old Bellaire is at the opposite of an introvert that would thrive in dark sonorities. He needs brightness and lightness to flourish in this uprising music genre he’s part of, and his sounds can make even the laziest of us sweat in no time.

Bellaire explains: Daytime is the result of blending disco, house and soul colors which are three genres that inspired me most and were my everyday soundtrack lately! I wanted it to be a track you’d listen to on a sunny summer afternoon to chill, but still bouncy enough to get played in clubs. The track also marks my hunger for sonorities change, a need to come back to more organic sounds, instruments-centered!”

He launched his debut single ‘Paris City Jazz‘ in 2017 which has amassed over 6.2 million Spotify streams. He laid the foundation of his music as a tribute to grooves, whether disco or funk, infused with jazz tones.

Since his debut, Bellaire was obsessed by the idea of sampling modern house music, without inhibition. An important part is also related to improvisation and giving space to the accidental, like when he invited trumpet player Roy Markson to play along on his track ‘Trumpet Call‘.

Everything went fast for Bellaire, he played his first show at a cornerstone Paris electronic venue Concrete while he was still underaged, a first EP selling over 3000 vinyls and already has four EPs under his belt.

His DJ skills quickly lead him travelling and playing all over the world, from Australia to Latin America through Canada, to meeting a loyal crowd in England where his shows are always sold out.

We’re not done seeing his moustache wriggle behind turntables, so much the better: with his upcoming EP Date At The Disco, the Lille-based (North of France) producer is determined to convince us house music is one that you can dance to, starting with a first single ‘Daytime‘.

Interview with DJ and music producer GotSome https://house-music.co/2019/12/20/interview-with-dj-and-music-producer-gotsome/ Fri, 20 Dec 2019 09:10:00 +0000 http://housemusic.ground.fm/2019/12/20/interview-with-dj-and-music-producer-gotsome/ UK producer and DJ  GotSome a man who has been on an upward trajectory since his arrival on the international circuit in 2014. In an amazingly short space of time, he has clocked up a series of achievements and career highlights that place him one step ahead of most of his peers and affirm his position as the leader of a new generation of talented British producers.

His skills have already spawned a slew of bass-heavy, dance floor destroyers including ‘Bassline’, championed by Radio 1’s B.Traits and Annie Mac and signed to Defected Records with a huge package of remixes from house legend Kenny Dope, Friend Within, Chus + Ceballos and Chocolate Puma.

Tell us about your earliest musical memory?

My Mum & Dad playing me Stevie Wonder & Gregory Isaacs when I was a kid. I kinda took it for granted at the time but now know to listen to those albums when I was a kid shaped who I am now.

At what point in your life did you have that moment where you said to yourself, “This is it. This is the type of music I want to create?”

I don’t really know… I’m contently listening to all types of music new & old. There wasn’t an exact point. I was writing Drum & Bass & Garage under other alias’s before GotSome and will properly write a different style after. You got to keep things rolling.  that’s what makes it creative.

Please list some of the most influential albums on your creative outlook and output:

1. Stevie Wonder – Talking Book
2. Marvin Gaye – Whats Going On
3. Gregory Isaacs – Night Nurse
4. Massive Attack – Blue Lines
5. Portishead – Dummy
6. RUN DMC – Raising in Hell
7. DR Dre – Chronic
8. Prodigy – Experience
9. The Notorious B.I.G. – Ready to Die
10. Basement Jaxx – Remedy

What key pieces of gear/software are you using to define your sound?

I share a studio with a bunch of my mates so there’s always some new piece of equipment bumping around… On my latest tune ‘The Message’ I managed to borrow an old Roland TB 707 & 808 to do my drums on & an original Roland Juno 6 to write the bass on. You can’t fuck with the double chorus buttons on them… Other key bits in the studio are Elektron Analog four synth which I absolutely love atm… Oh and a boutique Roland SE-02 makes a mean bass and pad.

What inspires you outside of music? What do you turn to when the creative well runs a little low?

I’m obsessed with food & sneakers so if I’m not DJing or in the studio, I’m properly hunting for sneakers or eating or cooking for friends.

What is your opinion on the ever spreading sub-genre vine? Are there too many? Do you think there’s perhaps a sub-genre that doesn’t get the attention it deserves?

Good music always finds a way of getting out and for people to hear it…
Sub-Genres are generally a place for the press to put a label on it & put it in a box… I’m not a fan of the box… Good music is good music, whatever it is.

Studio work and music creation or performing and interacting with a live audience, what do you prefer?

I’m originally a DJ… I’ve been DJing since I was 16… I love it… so interacting with a live audience is where my passion lies.

As a music artist, it becomes apparent that there is a huge difference between the art and the business. Is there anything about the music scene that you would personally change?

For the industry to be more accepting… Regarding sex, race, age…
Things are slowly changing…. but everything needs to be fully equal. Also, I would love for the entrance fees to get into club nightclub to be little cheaper so they would be more open to people that couldn’t afford to go normally go out. Going out and listening to music should be universal & open to everyone, not just people that have disposable incomes. That’s not what warehouse raves were about back in the 80’s it was just a bunch of like-minded people raving.

Any new or upcoming artists on your radar? Who shouldn’t the world sleep on?

Sn0w – He runs a label called more time

Dance System – Lvis 1090 new alias

LUCY – Bristol bass DJ also a member of the 6 figure gang
DJ Tess – Tribal & UK funky DJ from London
What can we expect from you in the near future? Any upcoming projects or gigs in the pipeline that you would like to tell us about?

My new song is out now on Ultra… It’s called ‘The Message’. I teamed up with American vocal don Chuck Roberts

who most famously wrote ‘In the beginning’. I wanted to pay homage to the original 80’s sound so I went to the studio and started to write the song. I managed to get hold of all the original 80s synths. I used a Roland TR707 & TR808 for the drums and a Roland Juno 6 for the bass.

I felt the message that it brings… Love… is so relevant to this day it is so important to talk about especially in the times we are currently living in.

I’ve also got two releases due out at the start of 2020 – A collab I’ve written together with Chicago legend ‘Ron Carroll’. The song is called ‘Speaker Sex’. Also, a record called ‘Sing It to You’!!. So starting 2020 on a high!!!

Famous last words?

Listen more, talk less. Oh and go DL my new single: GotSome – ‘The Message’ ft Chuck Robberts (Ultra Music)

Alok & Dynoro release an intoxicating new song ‘On & On’ https://house-music.co/2019/11/26/alok-dynoro-releases-an-intoxicating-new-song-on-on/ Tue, 26 Nov 2019 14:58:00 +0000 http://housemusic.ground.fm/2019/11/26/alok-dynoro-releases-an-intoxicating-new-song-on-on/ Brazilian artist Alok has joined forces with Lithuanian producer Dynoro for their infectious new single ‘On & On’, out on Friday 22nd November via B1 Recordings / Sony Music.

Layering a scintillating male vocal over a driving bassline, ‘On & On’ is a deftly-produced track by two powerhouse DJs poised to infiltrate charts and dancefloors alike.

Recently clocking in at #11 on the DJ Mag Top 100 list, 2019 has proven to be Alok’s busiest and most successful year yet. Earlier this year Alok linked up with acclaimed producer Felix Jaehn and British pop-band The Vamps on ‘All The Lies’ which amassed over 60 million streams on Spotify. One of his biggest remixes to date, Alok reworked Meduza’s global hit ‘Piece Of Your Heart’, whilst Alok’s fan-favourite track ‘Hear Me Now’ has garnered over 423 million Spotify streams, further cementing his position as the most successful Brazilian artist in dance music.

A mainstage regular, Alok’s talents have taken him across the globe where he has gone on to perform sizzling sets at renowned festivals and parties this summer including Burning Man, Ushuaia Ibiza, and Tomorrowland, where he was the only artist to headline four of the mainstages at the legendary Belgian festival. Closing off his world tour at the end of September, Alok headlined the iconic Rock in Rio alongside Drake, Ellie Goulding, and Bebe Rexha.

Dynoro struck gold with last year’s debut ‘In My Mind’, a single that went to #1 on Spotify, Apple Music, and  Shazam in  13 countries. It reached #1 on US Dance Radio and ranked at #5 in the UK Singles Charts, amassing 710 million streams and selling 3.2 million copies overall. Most recently, the Lithuanian hitmaker partnered with Norwegian singer-songwriter Ina Wroldsen on ‘Obsessed’, a dance-pop crossover hit that has amassed 42 million streams and reached #1 on US Dance Radio, with dance music icon Tiesto remixing the club-focused track.

With two globally renowned superstars joining forces, it’s little wonder that ‘On & On’ possesses all of the credentials of a track destined to make it to the top.
