Announcing a remix EP slated for release in early February, band KARAMACODA have given us a taste of what to expect with their latest remix for ‘Feels’ from the electronic act Extrawelt. This track remix features two versions, one being instrumental and the other vocal. This would not be KARMACODA’s first house remix, the band previously shared a remix of their track ‘Make Me The One’ by producer Lycoriscoris from the album Slow Down, Melt and Catch Fire via Sola Musa Music. Chill Music previously shared their thoughts about the ethereal deep house remix from Lycoriscoris (read the full feature here).

Stream / Download ‘Feels (Extrawelt Remix)’Remixes EP

Extrawelt grabbed the public’s attention almost immediately when they signed with music producer James Holden’s imprint Border Community. Their remix of KARMACODA’s ‘Feels’ maintains the elegant qualities of the original work with delicate synth notes, but enhances it with a regal nightclub ambiance. While we await the release of the remix album, we savour the decadent Extrawelt remix.

Extrawelt shares their thoughts on the remix: “We are thrilled to be part of this project which is way out of our comfort zone, it turned out to be quite a challenge.”

Review: DJ Aiden Francis shares invigoratingly minimal EP Mezzanine https://house-music.co/2021/11/30/review-dj-aiden-francis-shares-invigoratingly-minimal-ep-mezzanine/ Tue, 30 Nov 2021 13:29:44 +0000 https://house-music.co/?p=1599

Released this past weekend, Aiden Francis’s latest EP offering Mezzanine via Houseum is a mellow house release that can be easily enjoyed after a stressful day. Aiden is inspired by out of the box electronic acts that have been dominating playlists like Peggy Gou, DJ Seinfeld and Chaos In The CBD. The music producer has breathed electronic music since his early teenage years, experimenting with soundwaves at the tender age of fourteen.

Stream / Download: Mezzanine EP

This non-chalant blend of electronic embelishments pulls away from Francis’s previous club orientated style. The DJ has mentioned that the lockdown inspired him to channel a more minimal energy into his sound, and the result is four elegantly simplistic tracks that can be enjoyed whenever. Aiden Francis has proven that he can adapt to change with this latest EP, intro ‘Revolver’ is a warped but warm greeting to the the evolution of Francis’s style. This may be due to the low-key synth infusions that that cascade the track.

Read our exclusive interview with Aiden Francis here

‘Elegy’ takes a more refined and predominantly synth  approach, still ideal for a relaxing evening but also the ideal soundtrack needed to help you stay motivated and focused. ‘Porcelain’ fuses the energy of the previous tracks to unveil a upbeat lounge track perfect for intimate gatherings with friends. EP title track ‘Mezzanine’ fades the concluding track out with finesse and class. There is definitely a track for every house music lover on this EP.

Electronic acts Victor Lou & Slow Motion share atmospheric song ‘I’m Flying’ https://house-music.co/2021/11/18/electronic-acts-victor-lou-slow-motion-share-atmospheric-song-im-flying/ Thu, 18 Nov 2021 12:32:52 +0000 https://house-music.co/?p=1584

Brazilian electronic talents Slow Motion and Victor Lou have joined forces on new single I’m Flying”, making its official release now  via Astralwerks.

“I’m Flying” is  Slow Motion’s sophomore appearance on Astralwerks, following his remix of Joyia’s record “Come Down”. Directly succeeding his remixes of “Forbidden” by dwson and “Naive” by Asha Gold, “I’m Flyingwith Victor Lou is a marriage of atmospheric synths, slick vocal fragments and infectious tech house grooves, with all of the essential elements of an irresistibly refined club jam.

Paired alongside a thrilling music video, the visual depiction of I’m Flying” sees Slow Motion and Victor Lou come face to face with trouble. After a heated discussion with a villainous character, Victor and Slow are kidnapped and thrust into a small plane.  In a battle for their lives the pair of collaborators escape, and jump out of a plane to freefall into safety, celebrating victory by flying kites.

Slow Motion otherwise known as Kaynã Reis’ love for music started at an early age being surrounded by many musical influences, from Rock n’ Roll to Hip-Hop. Cultivated a curated interest in electronic music, he’s worked tirelessly to build out his sonic identity as what we recognize today.

His big break came in 2016 when he released a remix collaboration of Drinkee by Sofi Tukker with Vintage Culture, a track that remains in heavy rotation and has been streamed millions of times across the world.  He then released his world-conquering remix alongside Vintage Culture of Jorja Smith and Maverick Sabre’s hit “Slow Down” last year. The track has amassed over 153 million Spotify streams, reached #1 on the Beatport Deep House chart and consistently charted on the Spotify Global Viral 50

Victor Lou burst onto the scene in 2014 with his signature single “Back”. This was followed by the likes of “Untitled”, “GHOUSE” and “Fé”, with the Brazilian DJ and producer earning a reputation as an eclectic yet seamless producer that now sees him collaborate with Slow Motion on this dynamic Astralwerks release.

Two of Brazil’s most in-demand dance musical talents, Slow Motion and Victor Lou combine their production proficiencies to deliver what is an uncategorically epic result.

Deep house music producer Damian Rausch releases laidback song ‘Train’ https://house-music.co/2021/05/11/deep-house-music-producer-damian-rausch-releases-laidback-song-train/ Tue, 11 May 2021 12:29:13 +0000 http://housemusic.ground.fm/?p=1424 Image credit: Jolien Dzemailovska

Rising German electronic DJ / producer Damian Rausch is pleased to announce a brand new release with the arrival of ‘Train’, a six minute dose of cerebrally aligned electronica channelling deep house influences with hints of jazz and soul. Following on from a slew of releases on Apparel Music, Gents and Dandys, Whoyostro and Traumschallplatten, ‘Train’ marks his first foray into the French electronic scene.

Damian says: “I called it ‘Train’, maybe because life goes so fast  – Like a train that makes a few stops on the way to your final destination, but you may end up at a different place to the one you started out on. The possibilities are endless.”

Mineral Records – a new imprint of cult label Roche Musique – releases its debut house compilation ‘IDEAL RULES’, espousing its tenets of creative freedom and progressive expression. In its various forms, house music exudes a blissful, light and free feeling. It is an escapist experience, often taking you away to a better place, offering us the perfect respite we all need right now.

For a Mineral Records debut compilation, IDEAL RULES seemed an apt title. A dizzying, intricate cocktail fusing elements of Jazz, Minimal, Lo-fi, melodic, futuristic and Deep House – Not pigeonholed by one specific genre but harnessing the ability to create your own rules and to look back at the history of the electronic music scene in order to create something entirely fresh and new.

Ten hotly tipped artists were invited to curate IDEAL RULES, each with their own inimitable style. Alongside German producer Damian Rausch, a clutch of producers appear on the compilation including space cowboy Aerial Boi from Lyon; singer and multi-instrumentalist Corbin Canvas – based in Washington DC – with his futuristic house; Parisian DJ and producer Paul Cut, member of the label D. KO records; Reykjavík-based hip-hop and electronic producer/DJ intr0beatz; multi-talented young Swiss artist IyaKo, who composes a sunny African House track for the compilation. Monolithic, Japanese producer based in New York who excels in lunar lo-fi house; the Frenchman Jehan, with his red carpet house with jazz accents and finally, the artists of the Mineral roster, Slow Valley, a trap and future garage producer based in Lille and Cerfeuil, an electronic duo with breakbeat influences round off the compilation with the track ‘Luster’, a melodic house track with a definite groove.

So, to embody and visualise the free spirit of the project, Mineral Records collaborated with an upcoming illustrator Idriss Surena to create a pleasure seeking feline in love with music, words, and sound, the pillars of the label’s values.

The official release of the track is scheduled for the 20th of March 2020 via AST RECORDINGS. I AM SENTI produced both the original and remix of the single. For the mix and master engineering, she collaborated with The Diary Studios (Jess Glynne, Faithless, Halsey). Her debut hit ‘Not With Me’ has been viewed on Youtube close to two million times and counting. However, she is fast approaching 4 million streams for her music on major streaming platforms. The young EDM sensation has a busy year ahead of her with her new album in the works. Her previous achievements include features in publications like  VENTS Magazine, Female First, and Stereo Stickman, as well as radio play on KISS FM.

I AM SENTI is inspired by a varied range of musicians including the likes of Madonna, Michael Jackson, James Arthur, and Billie Eilish. She is always interested in stepping out of her comfort zone creatively, by diverging from her familiar styles and sounds. Inspired by her current energy during the song making process, she will use it as fuel to create fiery tracks such as this. She nods at projecting a new sound to what her listeners are used to in her upcoming work.

I AM SENTI talks about her remix,  “I released this official remix as I knew it would be a good song for all the clubs and I have friends who DJ in Ibiza who gave me the inspiration for a remix.  In this official remix, I worked with my producer to change the tone of my voice and vocals to fit the deep house scene and it sounded amazing in the studio we just knew we had to release it”

Interview with Conny https://house-music.co/2018/04/04/we-caught-up-with-conny-for-an-interview/ Wed, 04 Apr 2018 09:42:00 +0000 http://housemusic.ground.fm/2018/04/04/we-caught-up-with-conny-for-an-interview/ CONNY is a Producer and DJ from Newbridge, Co.Kildare, Ireland. Having spent time contributing to the scene in Ireland with DJ Deece as ‘Two charming Men‘ he is now ready to release productions and play out under his own moniker. For the past two years, CONNY has been working hard on his productions trying to perfect his craft and his own sound. He has a great love for deep underground house. CONNY has released on 045 Recordings, Snazzy Traxx and Gents & Dandyʼs Records. His productions have received support from artists such as Krystal Klear, DJ Steaw, Sandboards, DJ Caspa, Bondax, Mara Lakour, DJ Deece and Mix & Fairbanks to name a few. With forthcoming releases on Cold Tonic Records, Delve Deeper Recordings & 045 Recordings, you can expect to see and hear more of CONNY in 2018.

We caught up with the upcoming producer to gather some personal insights:

Hi there, how are you and what are you up to today?
Hi guys, I am good thanks! Today is a day off work for me so I’m just taking it easy, chilling in my apartment with coffee haha

To those not familiar with you, how would you describe your sound?
I would describe “my sound” as 90s inspired, deep, underground club music

What are the 5 albums and artists that have influenced you the most?
Hmmm, this is going to be quite a mix. Albums would be:

Mobb Deep – The Infamous
At The Drive-In – Relationship Of Command
Outkast – ATLiens
Big L – Lifestylez ov da Poor & Dangerous
St Germain – Boulevard

Artists that influence me would be people like

Kerri Chandler
DJ Steaw
Roy Davis Jr
Washerman & Brawther

Check out his new tune ‘REX’ on HouseGROUND

What other artists do you really like at the moment?
Jovonn
Byron The Aquarius
Harrison BDP
Sandboards
Nick Beringer
Cromby
Varhat
Ron Obvious
Dub Striker

What are some of the key pieces of gear you use to write your tracks in the studio? Or do you prefer to use software and plugins?
I pretty much make all my tracks ‘in the box’ and I’m perfectly fine with that. I really think it’s just about finding what works best for you and the style of music you want to make. I use a mix of vsts and samples I’ve collected over the years.  I have a Bass Station 2 and a TR-09 which I’ve been starting to use more and more in my productions. The TR-09 is an incredible piece of kit, it packs a huge punch for the size of it. I have a little list of stuff I want to get my hands on in the near future.

Has your arsenal of equipment changed much since you first started?
The equipment I use hasn’t changed much but I think my approach to producing has changed. These days I seem to be getting tracks finished quicker. Years ago I was sitting there spending months and months working on one track but nowadays I seem to get most of my tracks done in 1/2 weeks. I’ve been finding that the tracks where I’m able to get the main elements or ideas down in just a few hours, end up being the tracks I actually finish and am happiest with. I think I’ve just learned when to tell myself: this is garbage, start again you ‘idiot’.

Do you enjoy playing to an audience or working in the studio?
For this one, I’m gonna say working in the studio. To be completely honest, I’m not very confident in my DJing abilities. There is nothing I love more than playing records out, I just feel like I’m not very good at it. I tend to overthink everything when it comes to DJing, it’s something my girlfriend and friends are just about ready to kill me for haha. I’m just going to try and play more and face my fear and get over it.

If we gave you the budget to put a line-up together for a mini fest, who would you book and where would you play?
Hmmm… it would go something like Jeremy Underground, KiNK, Krystal Klear, Boo Williams, DJ Caspa, Kevin Over, DJ Deece, Chaos In The CBD, Swoose & Cromby.

If you weren’t a musician what would you be?
A Restaurant Manager 🙂

Do you have any information regarding upcoming releases, projects, DJ mixes or collaborations in the pipeline that you would like to tell us about?
I have my first vinyl release coming out in a few months and I’m crazy excited about that. Can’t say too much but details will be out soon. Apart from that, I’m just working away in the studio getting tracks finished and improving my DJ skills haha. Hope to get a few more gigs and just keep grinding away.

Many thanks for collaborating with us CONNY! We are very glad to share your tunes with our community and wish all the best for your near future.
